Cultybraggan - our first project

Our first major appeal will support the sustainable development of the former Army Camp at Cultygraggan purchased by our community in September 2007.  The Comrie Foundation aims to raise £500,000 through grants, legacies and donations to support the sustainable development of Cultybraggan Army Camp. This will clear our loan of £350,000 secured from the Tudor Trust and provide development capital to support early stage work.

This is a generational project with the potential to generate long term income for the Foundation The vision for this community owned asset is one of a model of sustainable development for communities across Europe. It will deliver lasting benefits for our village from a range of possibilities:

  • Local food production, allotments and enterprises
  • Workspace for local tradesmen and businesses
  • Sports, leisure and recreation
  • Heritage interpretation and visitor attraction
  • Appropriate commercial development
  • Low cost home ownership for local youngsters and families (shared ownership eco-housing perhaps through land swaps for village sites)
  • Renewable energy production from biomass and waste
  • Quality land management and habitat protection
  • Off road access between the village and the camp
